The Iconic 1975 Ferrari 312T


The name "Ferrari" is well known in the world, and is usually every young child's dream, with posters and banners of their cars and drivers plastered on their bedroom walls.


Everyone knows about Ferrari and how they are the most successful racing team to enter Formula One and the only team to compete from day one. To their name they hold 232 wins, 15 drivers and 16 constructor's championships to date. What a CV!

The 312T F1 series of cars was introduced at the first round of the 1975 season. The car was based on the earlier 1974 312B3 car.

Specifications:

Flat 12 - 2,992cc Engine Producing 510BHP.

5 Speed manual gearbox.

Aluminium Monocoque Chassis

Double Wishbone suspension system.

GoodYear Tyres.

In 1975 the new 312T would have a very slow start to the season with reliability and setup issues proving to be an issue. But by the mid point of the season these issues were ironed out and by the Italian GP Niki Lauda scored a third place finish, clinching the drivers and constructor's championships then. Ferrari's first constructor's in 11 years. On 72.5 points total.

Lauda claimed 5 wins in the season from a 14 round season with a total of 64.5 points and 1 DNF. His teammate Clay Regazzoni claimed 5th in the championship with 25 points, 1 win, 3 podiums and 4 DNF's.


This 1975 312T would be the base for 5 more years with several versions of the car being produced.
